Join the exciting BlueTeam! The Project Accounting Manager will be responsible for providing financial and business analysis support for the Construction, Restoration, and Roofing Divisions. The Project Accounting Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures for the company’s billing and revenue cycle to maximize cash flow while maintaining and improving internal and external customer relations. The Project Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day operations on all issues related to project life cycle from project set up through project close out process.  Additionally, the Project Accounting Manager will evaluate project performance and provide analysis to project managers, finance department, and other operational management groups.  This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the project accounting team.

What you’ll do...

  • Review operational and construction budgets and analyze variances against budget and prior months’ costs
  • Interact with subcontractors relating to billing, purchase orders, invoicing, etc.
  • Provide proactive analytics and reporting to improve forecasting, align results, draw insights and influence action
  • Perform a variety of accounting and finance duties including reconciliations, assisting with financial analysis, and budgeting.
  • Provide oversight of project accounting activities to ensure compliance with established guidelines
  • Support the Controller with oversight of the accounting and finance functions
  • Provide collections support to finance and project managers
  • Assist with month end close process by reviewing project reporting to ensure project financials are correctly stated
  • Provide project reporting and analysis on key project metrics
  • Analyze and develop new metrics/reports, looking for trends and discrepancies
  • Assist in the development of project accounting policies and procedures
  • Make suggestions regarding process improvements and assist with the implementation of new systems
  • Support the development of annual fee schedules and billing table maintenance
  • Assist with extending electronic invoicing and routing system to entire company
  • Participate in the development and implementation of changes to key processing systems
  • Provide support as needed for annual audits and tax filings
  • Guide, coach, and develop accounting team members to support growth of business unit accounting
  • Provide training to project accounting team Coordinate with senior finance staff to enhance opportunities for project accounting team professional development
  • Supervise project accounting team and provide guidance for day-to-day operations
    • Manage workflow and personnel
    • Review the setup of new projects and modifications
    • Provide quality control review of invoices for adherence to client requirements
    • Review billing
    • Resolve complex billing issues
  • Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need...

  • BA in Business Administration or  Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of 7 years of full cycle accounting experience preferably within the construction industry, or similar industry
  • Minimum of 4 years of direct managerial or supervisory experience
  • Finance, analysis, and leadership experience required
  • Experience with multiple simultaneous project costing and tracking
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must be very tech savvy; able to operate in multiple database systems, excel spreadsheets, Outlook email, word documents, and others.
  • Able to multi-task in fast paced environment, is adaptable to rapid changes
  • Excellent customer service approach to communications and interactions with others.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level using Excel and proficient in all other Microsoft products
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to positively influence others
  • Comfortable presenting information to all levels of the company
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be accurate and detail oriented
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Focus on continuous improvements with a proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
