The Lead Construction Superintendent (Lead CS) is a senior-level field leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing daily on-site activities for large-scale renovation, restoration, and capital expenditure (CapEx) projects. The Lead CS will coordinate all aspects of site operations, ensuring timely project completion, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with safety regulations. This position requires the ability to supervise multiple construction superintendents (CS1-CS3), manage subcontractors, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve project success.
What you’ll do...
- Serve as the most senior superintendent on assigned projects with multiple superintendents, leading and coordinating all superintendence activities.
- Provide mentorship to construction superintendents (CS1-CS3) and facilitate training, both on-site and remotely.
- Stand in for other superintendents (including Restoration, Construction, and Roofing) to cover short-term absences as needed.
- Assume sole CS responsibility for highly complex, critical, or high-profile projects.
- Manage and maintain daily project schedules, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and client expectations.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Mobilize to project sites and establish site logistics and operational setup.
- Conduct scope and schedule reviews with property management teams.
- Coordinate client-approved work schedules, site access logistics, subcontractor parking, and material storage.
- Implement daily check-in/check-out protocols with on-site property management.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring high-quality workmanship and minimal rework.
- Manage and direct subcontractors, ensuring adherence to schedules and specifications.
- Enforce job site regulations, including crew dress code, conduct, and safety compliance.
- Conduct regular quality inspections and corrective walkthroughs to mitigate punch-list issues.
- Coordinate pre-punch inspections and ensure resolution of identified deficiencies before project closeout.
- Conduct and document weekly "Toolbox Talks" safety meetings.
- Ensure all personnel comply with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Investigate and report all job site incidents within one hour of occurrence.
- Maintain minimal disruption to client operations during construction activities.
- Maintain and submit required reports, including:
- Daily Crew Activity Sheets & Field Reports (by 9 AM the following day)
- Weekly Status Reports (submitted every Thursday by 12 PM EST)
- Incident Reports (submitted within one hour of occurrence)
- Personal Expense Reports & Weekly Tracker (submitted by Monday at 9 AM EST)
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
What you’ll need...
- Extensive experience in commercial renovation, restoration, and CapEx projects.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in project scheduling, budget management, and subcontractor coordination.
- In-depth knowledge of building codes, OSHA safety regulations, and construction best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact professionally with clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and construction management software.
- Certifications in OSHA, First Aid, CPR, and other safety programs preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field OR
- 5+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 2 years in a senior superintendent role.
- Experience with insurance-based restoration projects (Xactimate experience preferred).
